Obituary of Santos Z. Cavazos
Santos Z. Cavazos
(nee Zavaleta)
1922-2017
Santos passed peacefully on Wednesday, November 8th, 2017 at home surrounded by her loving family. Santos leaves behind a legacy of strong family heritage and values. She and her husband (the late Manuel) were successful entrepreneurs starting an upholstery business in 1954. With their strong work ethic and dedication of providing for their family, they eventually grew their business into a successful mattress factory with their children. Santos retired from the business in 1999 and in her retirement she enjoyed quilting and sewing. She made each of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren handmade quilts. She loved spending time with her family playing dominos, checkers or any card game. Santos was funny and always had a wonderful smile on her face. She will be missed by many; however her legacy will live on through her family.
Santos leaves behind her children, Frank (Judy) Cavazos, Elisa Nino, Rachel (William) Sanders and Manuel (JoAnn) Cavazos Jr.; two sisters, Inosensia Hinojosa of Curtis, Ohio and Olivia Goodie of Dallas, Texas; she has been the loving grandmother to nine grandchildren, Rhonda (Ted) Reese, Linda (the late Michael) Barbic, Susanne (John) Flowers, Melissa (John) Eichelberger, Laurie Schrock, Renee (Dan) Misischia, Tammy (Doug) Day, Paul (Brooke) Nino and Tara (Shane) Longest; loving great grandmother to sixteen and great great grandmother to six; former daughter-in-law, Judy Withers and her daughter, Angela Plunge. Santos also leaves behind many special friends and family members that she loved and cherished. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
She has been reunited in heaven with her loving husband, Manual Cavazos, Sr.; her parents, Santos and Guadalupe; two sisters, Elida and Gregoria; one brother, John; and son-in-law, Acardio Nino.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Joliet Hospice and her caregivers, Blanca Arencibia and Margarita Guerrero.
