Obituary of Martin A. Gabrysiak

Martin A. “Marty” Gabrysiak, age 76, late of Shorewood, and formerly of the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center, Joliet.

Born January 21, 1941 in Chicago, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Genevieve (Toboja) Gabrysiak.  He married the love of his life, Carol A. (Manfre) Gabrysiak, and she preceded him in death on February 24, 2015.  His sister, Camille (Gilbert) Olmstead also preceded him in death.

Martin was a veteran of the United States Navy and worked many years as a dispatcher for Carey International.

He will be remembered as a devoted husband, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, and friend.  He was also an avid fisherman.

Surviving are one sister, Mary Lou (Paul) Reimer of Brookfield; a brother-in-law, Thomas (Sharon) Manfre of Burr Ridge and Marco Island, FL; numerous nieces and nephews including Susan (John) Kaufman, Karen (Bill) Casey, Thomas Manfre, III, Karen (Donald) Grudzinski , Sharen Olmstead, Kirk (Lisa) Olmstead, David Reimer and Stephen Reimer; numerous great nieces and great nephews; and many dear friends.

Visitation for Martin Gabrysiak will be held Tuesday, November 21, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet, where a funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 p.m.  Cremation rites will be accorded following services and inurnment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 10:30 a.m.  Family and friends are invited to meet at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. and process together to the cemetery.  For more information, please call (815) 741-5500 or visit his Memorial Tribute at www.fredcdames.com
