Donald L. "Don" Bechler. age 88, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Salem Village.
He was born in Decatur, IL, the son of the late Harry and Lucille (nee Dowers) Bechler. A resident of Panama Beach, FL, he returned to Joliet in 2014. Don was a proud U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, serving in World War II. He retired from Caterpillar Inc., and Bay County School District in Florida. Don was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn (nee Moody) Bechler of Joliet; his three children, Sondra Cotner, Gary (Mary) Bechler and Debbie (David) Bradfute; four grandchildren; his stepson, Michael (Sharon) Offermann; three step grandchildren; and his sister, Jackie Bokan. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded by his parents and his brother, Robert Bechler.
Funeral services for Donald L. Bechler will be Monday, December 4, 2017 at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow. Fred C.
