Obituary of Theodore Francis Nutting
Theodore Francis Nutting
At the age of 71, Theodore Francis Nutting passed away peacefully at his home in Plainfield, Illinois, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in St. Joseph, Missouri, on March 18, 1946 to the union of William and Dorothy (nee Estes) Nutting. Ted grew up in Omaha, Nebraska and attended a few high schools throughout the area before enlisting in the United States Air Force at the age of 17. During his two tours of duty, he continued his education and received his Bachelors Degree from Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Missouri. Ted was a jack of all trades. His love for flying led him to achieve his Small Aircraft Private Pilot’s License before starting his career in the trucking industry. While driving a truck, he moved his family around, until they established their home in the Plainfield area in 1991. He retired in 2010, but continued to keep himself busy both driving a school bus and being a bus monitor for both the Joliet and Lockport school districts.
Ted was a history buff who enjoyed reading, traveling and playing golf with his grandchildren. He was a staple at every sporting event that his grandchildren had and could always be heard cheering for them on the sidelines. The love he had for his family was only strengthened during the numerous road trips traveling throughout the country with his wife, children and even later on with his grandchildren.
Ted is survived by his loving wife of more than 48 years, Susan K. (nee Holle) Nutting; his two children, Jeff Nutting and Jennifer (Jeff ) Gerdes; three grandchildren, Noah Nutting and Julianna and Ryan Gerdes; two sisters, Jane Gomez and Peggy (Rick) White; sister-in-law, Linda Nutting; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dave Nutting.
