Obituary of William Rakes

William David Rakes,  Age 63, of Ooltewah, formerly of Shorewood, Illinois, passed away, Wednesday,  December 20, 2017 after a short illness.

His greatest love was for his family, especially his adored grandchildren.

Though unable to tell a joke correctly, his greatest talent was making everyone around him laugh.

Truly a big kid at heart, he could always find humor in even the darkest of situations.

Dave (Bill) was a true friend with the spirit to help anyone in need at any time.

Survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife of 39 years, Annamarie; Sons, David Rakes of Shorewood, IL, Tom (Jennifer) Rakes of Coal City, IL; daughter, Joanne Rakes of Plainfield, IL; grandchildren, Paige, Ethan, Emma, Cole, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

All friends and relatives are invited to gather on Wednesday December 27, 2017 from 11 am until a Memorial Service begins at 1 pm at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 1201 W. Rt. 6 (at Deerpath Dr.) Morris, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Pancreatic Cancer Network (pancan.org) or Hospice of Chattanooga.
