Obituary of Donald Dillon
Dillon, Donald J.
Age 64. A lifetime Joliet resident, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.
Born January 1, 1948 to the late Georgia (Christensen) and John Dillon. He was a graduate of Joliet Catholic High School, Class of 1965. Served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.
Survived by his wife of 35 years, Judith A. (nee Blank) Dillon; children, Robert A. Pate, Brian K. Pate and Michelle L. (William) Yahnke; six grandchildren, Nicole (Michael) Gardner, Donald Pate, Andrew Pate; Caitlin and James Yahnke, and Blake Schmidt; two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Madison Gardner; one brother, James "Rich" (Sharon) Dillon; stepmother, Virginia R. Dillon; two aunts, Clarabelle Christensen and Rosemary (Joseph) Saieg; brother-in-law of Kathy Webb, Barbara "Jane" Holmes and Jerry Blank; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a great bunch of friends also survive.
Preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Ambrosia and Mabel (Shields) Dillon and Oscar and Loretta Christensen; two uncles, Thomas Dillon and LaVerne Christensen and his father and mother-in-law, Bernard and Ruth Blank.
Don retired from the City of Joliet in 2009. He was a member of the American Legion Post #1080 and the Loyal Order of the Moose, Joliet Lodge #300.
A Prayer Service will take place Monday, October 1, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation Monday 10:00-11:00 a.m. at:
