Obituary of Linda Dobbs

Linda Ann Dobbs (nee Connor) Age 61. Linda lost her courageous battle with breast cancer on May 14, 2007. During her 39 year food server profession, she served lunch or dinner to almost everyone in the area. Most recently she was employed by Andy & Sophie's, the Public Landing and Syl's. Linda never knew a stranger, and leaves a host of family and friends to fondly remember her. Survived by her loving companion and best friend of three decades, Bill Deloria; her mother, Eileen Connor; her children, David Dobbs, Jim and Cheri Dobbs; Colleen and Dan Orzech, and Ginger and Michael Schroers; the true loves of her life, her grandchildren, Alyssa and Eric; Hayley and Hanna; Payton and Reagan; and Matthew. Also survived by her sister, Kathy and Jerry Papesh; her brother, John and Joan Connor; Bill's brothers, Ed and Rose Deloria, and Jim Deloria and Anna Chancellor; his sister, Darlene and Mike Kelly; her cousin, Marilou; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, William "Dud" Connor. A proud Reach to Recovery volunteer, Linda could often be found encouraging and supporting those battling breast cancer. She had a special gift to bring smiles and laughter to many at just the right time. Throughout her battle, she would optimistically say "I won't look sick." We will forever remember her strength and perseverance Our Family would like to thank all of Linda's exceptional caregivers, and particularly her doctors. As it was Linda's wish, Cremation Rites have been accorded. A Memorial Service will be held at First Assembly of God Church, 1741 Essington Road on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Silver Cross Hospital Foundation or Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.
