Obituary of George R. Contos
George Robert Contos, age 94, of Joliet, passed away Monday, January 29, 2018 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center.
Born February 13, 1923 in Chicago, he was the son of the late Constantine “Gus” and Mary (nee Rycek) Contos. George was an Army veteran of World War II and worked as a printer. He was also a member of Joliet American Legion Post #1080.
Surviving are his loving children, Margaret (Orville) Elza, Stephen (Joyce) Contos and Mary (Joseph) Cosentino; grandchildren, Joseph and Michael Cosentino; and one sister, Louise (the late Roy) Svehla.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Joan F. (nee Stencel) Contos (July 5, 2015); and his parents.
Funeral services for George R. Contos will be held Sunday, February 4, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet, where visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Cremation rites will be accorded following services.
