Jim was a wonderful person to work with in IESMA. He served, for several years as the Region 3 Vice President. His guidance and inspiration on the Executive Board was admired by fellow Board Members. He will be deeply missed.

Coming into the emergency mgnt field with no experience I quickly learned that my only way to improve was to reach out to people with experience. For the next 30 years many people including Jim were always there to offer constructive ideas and also complements as well. For many years at the end of the IEMA Conference, Jim always took the time to say “Gene I don’t know how but this was better then last year and here are some ideas for next year”. I always looked forward to our conversations When we disagreed he always explauned why which helped me to understand it from the county/municipal point of view. Last time I saw Jim was when he and Brenda drove over 2 hours to attend Tom Korty’s retirement party. Talked about retirement, his gourmet skills in cooking supper for Brenda and how he was enjoying life. A good friend that left too early but at least God has a emergency mgr when needed. Good bye my friend.

Thank you Jim for mentoring our Daughter Molly and having faith in her ability to do the job for you. She always had kind words about you and was very sad to have you retire. It was her admiration for you that drove her to organize a terrific retirement party for you. REST IN PEACE KNOWING YOU WERE LOVED BY MANY
