Obituary of Frank W. Kimball
Frank Waldo Kimball
Frank Kimball passed away peacefully in Morris, IL on Thursday, February, 8 2018 at the age of 94. Frank was born on March 16, 1923 in Framingham, MA to Horace and Marion Kimball, the younger brother of Dorothy and Kenny. He graduated from Framingham High School in 1942, and like so many brave young men of his time he volunteered to serve his country. He was a proud member of the United States Navy during WWII until he was honorably discharged after the sinking of his ship, the USS Morrison, during the Battle of Okinawa. Shortly upon returning from the war he met and married his wife of 71 years, Beatrice (nee Burns), and completed his education graduating from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Engineering. Together, he and Bea made their home in Danvers, MA where they lived for 70 years raising their family.
Frank was an avid baseball fan, a lover of McDonald’s coffee and a good whoopie pie (or just a good meal in general). He was incredibly intelligent, an admirer of details no matter how small they may seem and was always quick with a joke or witty comment.
He is survived by his loving wife, Beatrice and their daughters, Colleen (Kerry) and Kerri (Bobby). He was a beloved grandfather to Peter (Sara), Rhiannon (Tim), Courtney (Brian), Rory (Boris) and Colby (Jake) and great-grandchildren, Caroline, Cadence, Becca, Carter, Eli, Owen, Reece, Peyton, Kolten and Levi.
A celebration of Frank Kimball’s life will be Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Route 6 at Deerpath Drive, Morris, IL. at 3 p.m. Full military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the United States Navy at the conclusion of his services. As it was Frank’s request cremation rites will be accorded following his services. Visitation will be SATURDAY AFTERNOON from 1 p.m. until time of services.
