Andrew L. Shewmaker

Age 68, of Shorewood, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center.  Andy was born in Denton, AR, the son of the late Donald Shewmaker and Iva (Gilbert) Capps, and resided in Joliet since 1966.  He was a graduate of Joliet Central High School, Class of 1967, and retired from ITW Jemco Engineering in 2009.  Andy was an avid movie buff, especially the old westerns.  His grandchildren were his pride and joy and he thoroughly enjoyed family gatherings, reading and telling a good story.

Andy is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Antoinette “Toni” (Di Sera) Shewmaker of Shorewood; his daughter, Jennifer (Troy) Monson of Shorewood; his son, Kevin (Amanda) Shewmaker of Tinley Park; six grandchildren, Kaia, Ronan and Drake Monson and Aubrey, Aiden and Austin Shewmaker; his sister, Pat (Don) Eigenheer of Channahon; his mother-in-law, Inivola Di Sera of Joliet; brother-in-law of Mary (Thomas) Rehm, Rosa (Martin) Zagar, Sylvia (George) Formenti, Maurino Di Sera, James Di Sera and Pearline Shewmaker; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded by his parents; granddaughter, Riley Monson; his brother, Danny Shewmaker; father-in-law, Rainiero Di Sera; and brothers-in-law, Ray and Angelo Di Sera.

Funeral services for Andy Shewmaker will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, to the Church of St. Anthony where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
