Obituary of Lorraine Jackson
Lorraine Jackson, (nee Johnson), age 95, died peacefully at Pleasant View Lutheran Home in Ottawa, IL on Sunday February 25, 2018. Born June 2, 1922 in Miller Township. Lorraine worked at the Seneca Shipyard during WWII and had the honor of christening LST201, the fifth ship built and launched at the Yard in 1943. She was active in many community activities over the years and a member of Stavanger Lutheran Church.
Survived by her nieces and nephews, Doris Ropp of Yorkville, IL, Wayne (Grace) Olson of Oswego, IL, Nancy (Richard) Kurbat of Peoria, AZ, Joann Riva of Montgomery, IL, Stanley (Susan) Johnson of Seneca, IL, Sharon Johnson of Seneca, IL and Shirley Fezekas of Aurora, IL.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Sherwood, whom she married in 1951 in Seneca, IL; her parents, Newton and Cora Johnson; three sisters, Hazel Fegley, Margaret Norem and Violet Olson; four brothers, her twin Laverne, Marion, Clyde and Ervin Johnson all of Seneca.
The family would like to thank the Pleasant View Retirement Community staff for their efforts and dedication. Also, thanks to Pastor Phil Peterson of Stavanger Lutheran Church and the many friends and neighbors who faithfully visited Lorraine during her long stay at Pleasant View.
Visitation for Lorraine Jackson will be held Thursday March 1, 2018 from 4 – 6 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Route 6 (at Deerpath Drive), Morris, IL. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday March 2, 2018 at the Stavanger Lutheran Church, 2904 N. 32nd Road., Seneca, IL 61360. Pastor Phil Peterson officiating. Interment will be at Stavanger Lutheran Cemetery. A reception will follow at the church. All are welcome to celebrate Lorraine's life.
