Obituary of Larry Gray
At the age 81, Larry passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center. He was born and raised in West Frankfort, IL, and joined the United States Air Force after graduating from West Frankfort High School. Larry was a proud member of our Armed Forces for 8 years, 10 months and 19 days. Upon conclusion of his military service, he spent time in Illinois, New York and Florida working in various vocations until his retirement in 1999. In retirement, Larry enjoyed spending time with his great-great nieces and nephews, watching “old” movies and reading.
He was preceded by his parents, Earl and Dolores (nee Lucas) Gray; three brothers; and one sister.
Larry is survived by his loving and devoted sister, Joan (the late Jack) Jones of Joliet; three daughters, Carolyn, Stephanie and Toni; two sons, Jeff and Matthew; one step daughter, Denise; and grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Larry Gray will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018, at 12:30 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery where full Military Honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Air Force. As it was Larry’s request, cremation rites have been accorded. No visitation service will be held. Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home.
