Obituary of Ann Elizabeth Sklut
Ann Elizabeth Sklut, (nee Porth), age 92, a long time resident of Morris, IL, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2018 at home in Chesterton, IN, where she had resided since 2006 with her son and his family.
Born October 4, 1925 in Dwight, IL, she was the daughter of Michael and Christine (nee Jensen) Porth. She married Bennie Leonard Sklut and he preceded her in death on April 6, 2001. Also preceding her were three brothers, George, Arnold and Michael Porth; three sisters, Aldene Benesek, Judy Brooks and Frances Howard; and two sisters-in-law and their husbands, Rella (Herbie) Maier and Rose (Harold) Patinka.
Surviving are her loving children, Barbara (Patrick) Duffy, Pamela (Brent) Keller and Jordon (Melissa) Sklut; seven grandchildren, Kelly (Tony) Wygonski, Kerry (Bob) Kinsloe, Max Keller, Ariel Keller, McKenna Sklut, Kai Hayes and Mattea Sklut; three great-grandchildren, Joseph Wygonski and Jack and Daniel Kinsloe; one sister, Betty (Roy) Koehler; one brother, John Porth; and many nieces and nephews.
Ann, whose Hebrew name was Sarah Hannah, was a strong and thoughtful woman whose will power and feistiness will always be remembered. She loved her family and enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s activities. She was an excellent cook and baker, and enjoyed cooking for their special family dinners. Ann also enjoyed playing cards, working puzzles, reading, playing slot machines, and following the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bulls. Her family will miss her cookies and the personal cards she sent to everyone on their birthdays and special occasions.
Funeral services for Ann Elizabeth Sklut will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., at the Chapel at Westlawn Cemetery, 7801 W. Montrose Avenue, Norridge, IL where interment will immediately follow. Rabbi Charles Rubovits will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org), the American Lung Association (www.lung.org), or Joliet Jewish Congregation (www.jolietjewishcongregation.org) would be appreciated.
