Brenda J. Darlington

Age 66, of Morris, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox.  Born in Morris, the daughter of the late John and Janetta (nee Terry) Steele, she was a lifelong resident.  Brenda graduated from Morris Community High School and received her bachelor in education from the University of St. Francis, Joliet.  She was employed at Center School as a 5th grade teacher, until its closure, and retired from White Oak Elementary School in 2006.  A lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church, Morris, she served her church as a Sunday School Superintendent.  Brenda was a member of the Illinois Teachers Association.  She was an avid reader, delivered for the Meals on Wheels Program, and loved to bowl and travel.  Brenda’s grandchildren were the loves of her life.

Surviving is her loving husband of 48 years, Dan Darlington of Morris; her three children, John (Marissa) Darlington of Morris, Michael (Helen) Darlington of Oceanside, CA and Angela (Tuccio) Pompilio of Lockport; eight grandchildren, Drew, Kyle, Luke, Addison, Samantha Darlington, and Ella, Colin, Lia Pompilio; her two sisters, Claudette (Pat) Kenney of Cincinnati, OH and Madeline (Gary) Fitzmaurice of Morris.  Several nieces,  nephews, cousins and dear  friends including, “cuz” Dennis Steele and his wife who was Brenda’s best friend, Nancy Steele.

Funeral Services for Brenda J. Darlington will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018, where Brenda will Lie In State at First Presbyterian Church, 200 E. Jackson St., Morris, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Roy Backus officiating.  Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.  Memorials in her name to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association would be appreciated.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m., at the Fred C.
