Obituary of William C. Sanders

William C. Sanders, 82, of Joliet, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Alzheimer’s and Dementia takes many things, but never our hope and love for him.

William was born on July 9, 1935 in Waverly, Tennessee, the son of Martin and Bessie (nee Travis) Sanders.  William proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1957.  He married Rachel in 1959 and they lived in Joliet, where they still reside today.  Following his military service, William continued his career at Caterpillar Tractor Company for 42 dedicated years before retiring.   Known to his family and friends as “Clyde”, he had a zest for life.  He enjoyed spending time in his yard, fishing, watching his beloved Chicago Cubs, and traveling with his dear friends, Barbara and the late James Jimenez.

William is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Rachel (nee Cavazos); his two daughters, Rhonda (Ted) Reese, and Renee (Daniel) Misischia; two cherished grandsons, LCpl Jacob Misischia (USMC) and Mitchell Misischia; his loving siblings, Lamon (Mary Kay) Sanders, of Los Fresnos, TX and Joan Sanders, of Joliet, IL.  Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends also survive.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Woodrow, Nathan, James, Frank, Charles, and Dale Sanders; his sisters, Bessie Lowrey, Pauline Gwin, Jessie Sanders, Lois Contos, Catherine Sanders, Edith Policandriotes, and Lila Couch; and his dear in-laws, Manual and Santos Cavazos.

The family would like to offer their sincere gratitude to Joliet Area Community Hospice and his caregiver, Evelia (Chulo) Arencibia.
