Susan M. Vowels
(nee Krieger)

Age 54, of Plainfield, passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 3, 2018, at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center, surrounded by the love of her family.  Susan was born and raised in Joliet, residing in Plainfield for the past 17 years.  She was a graduate of Joliet Central High School, Class of 1982.  Susan, along with her husband, James, own and operate Paradise Pools & Spas of IL, established in 1997.  She loved children and enjoyed her work at Lighthouse Academy of Plainfield for the past three years.  She also loved the outdoors, gardening, playing cards, and the enjoyment of her family.  

Susan is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, James E. Vowels of Plainfield; her two children, Stephanie Vowels and Kevin Vowels, both of Plainfield; her mother, Joan (nee Popek) Krieger of Joliet; three sisters, Linda (Chuck) Fietterer of Joliet, Barb (David) Dyer of New Lenox, and Karen (Marty) Marcus of Boston, MA; two brothers, Bill (Jean) Krieger of Portland, OR and Bob (Karrie Kunke) Krieger of Joliet.  She is also sister-in-law of Tony Vowels of CO, Don Vowels of St. Louis, MO, Carl (Michelle) Vowels of WI and John (Kris) Vowels of MD.  Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.  

She was preceded by her father, Arthur Krieger (2015); nephew, Andrew Dyer (2015); and father and mother-in-law, J.D. (2016) (Paulette, 2017) Vowels and Judith E. Vowels (2017).

All family and friends are invited to meet on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 18 Woodlawn Ave., Joliet, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.  Private family interment will take place at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to the Melanoma Research Foundation, 1411 K Street, NW Suite 800, Washington, DC 20005, would be appreciated.  Visitation will be held on Monday, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Fred C.
