Obituary of Elizabeth A. Brown Daugherty

Elizabeth “Betsy” Brown Daugherty, age 71, of Shorewood, passed away peacefully, Saturday, May 5, 2018 at home, with her family by her side.

Born March 11, 1947 in Hinton, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Charles Edward and Virginia (nee Shipp) Brown.

Betsy was an elementary school teacher in West Virginia for many years, and after moving to Illinois, worked as a Doctor’s Referral Coordinator for DuPage Medical Group in Lisle.

Betsy loved to play cards and bocce ball, and enjoyed participating in all the Shorewood Glen activities.  She will be remembered for her wonderful and loving personality.  There was nothing she would not do for her family.

Surviving are her beloved husband, Harvey C. “Butch” Daugherty of Shorewood; two sons, David W. Daugherty of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Robert C. (Stephanie) Daugherty of Plainfield; one brother, Charles E. (Barbara) Brown, Jr. of South Charleston, WV; one sister, Cathryn (Joe) Osborn of St. Albans, WV; and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Gathering for Betsy Brown Daugherty will be held Saturday, May19, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet.  A Memorial Services will be conducted at 4:30 p.m.  Cremation rites have been accorded and interment will be private.
