Leona K. Norcross
(nee Kinzler)
Age 90. Passed away May 12, 2018 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, surrounded by her loving family. Born September 30, 1927 in Joliet, and a lifelong Joliet and Plainfield area resident. A 1945 graduate of St. Francis Academy. Retired from Holy Family Society following 25 years of service. Member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and the Ladies Auxiliaries of Cantigny Post #367, American Legion Post #1080, and Joliet Elks Lodge #296. Leona enjoyed reading, needlework, travel and fishing. She especially enjoyed camping trips to Alaska, and time spent at the cottage in Eagle River, WI.
Survived by her three daughters, Terri (Joey) Lynch of Athens, WI, Brenda Norcross of Fairbanks, AK, and Laurie (Larry) Allen of Coal City, IL; six grandchildren, Scott (Claudia) Paquet of Lake Marian, IL, Julie (James) Espy of Austin, TX, Brad, Ryan (Laura), Nate (Jill), and Kate Allen all of Coal City; and seven great-grandchildren, Hannah Flint, Peyton Hairald, Elliana, Jonna, Cody and Coltin Allen, and Imogen Espy; sisters-in-law, Celene Easson, Margaret Kinzler, and Margaret Norcross; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Edna (nee Korzilius) Kinzler; husband, Gerald J. Norcross, ( August 7, 2010); and four brothers, Robert (Evelyn) Kinzler, Alfred Kinzler, LaVerne (Rita) Kinzler, and Clarence (Helen) Kinzler.

Funeral services for Leona Norcross will be Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Elwood, IL. Memorials in her name to Joliet Area Community Hospice or any local library would be appreciated. Visitation Wednesday, 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
