Maria Perez-Argueta

Obituary of Maria Teresa Perez-Argueta

Maria Teresa Perez-Argueta passed away on Monday, May 21, 2018, at Midwest Regional Medical Center in Zion, IL, after a courageous battle with cancer.  As they always have been, her loving family was by her side.  Maria was born on February 10, 1967, in Metapan, El Salvador, to Luis de Maria and Josefa (nee Aguirre) Agrueta.

Maria was an active member of the Iglesia Cristiana Nueva Esperanza and was very involved in the community helping the elderly.  Many would know her from her long career as a beautician at Great Clips in Plainfield, or more recently, Supercuts in Oswego.  She was proud of her heritage and thoroughly enjoyed traveling back to her homeland to see her family.

Maria was a selfless woman who would always be checking in on the well being of family and friends.  She was a loving mother, caregiver, supporter and friend to everyone in her life.  When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed cooking for those she loved and was actively involved in the lives of her grandchildren.  She helped instill in them the spirituality that she embodied.

Maria is survived by her devoted husband of 32 years, Ernesto Perez; her five children, Roxana (Oscar Sanchez) Perez, Yasmin (Pedro) Martinez, Alba (Jose Mejia) Perez, Ernesto Perez, Jr., and Daniela Perez; her seven grandchildren, Briana, Liliana, Donovan, Oscar, Anabella, Mateo, and Camila; her mother; and her siblings, Marta Vinces, Julia Argueta, Paula Augirre, Celso Argueta, and Delfina Busio.  Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by her father, and her brothers, Jose Luis Argueta and Luis Miguel Argueta.

Maria Teresa Perez-Argueta will Lie In State on Friday, May 25, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. until time of services at 6:00 p.m., at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1015 Winthrop, Joliet, IL, with Pastor Roberto Arevalo of Iglesia Cristiana Nueva Esperanza officiating.  Interment will be held privately by the family in El Salvador.  Memorials in her name to Debbie’s Dream Foundation, Two South University Drive, Suite 326, Plantation, FL 33324 would be appreciated.  Visitation will be held on Thursday from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at the Fred C.
