Raymond L. Scholtes
“Ray”
Age 88, of Port Charlotte, FL, and formerly the Joliet, IL area, died Monday May 21, 2018. He was born May 14, 1930, to the late Josephine (nee Brennan) and Nicholas Scholtes, in Joliet, where he was raised and educated, and was a graduate of Joliet Catholic High School. He retired in 1989 as a Deputy Chief from the Will County Sheriff’s Department, after over 25 years of service.
Ray was an avid fisherman who enjoyed spending time after retirement in Hayward, WI.
He was the beloved husband of nearly 70 years to Elaine B. (nee Smith) Scholtes; loving father of Kenneth R. (Sharon) Scholtes of Centre, AL, Raymond J. (Kathi) Scholtes of Kankakee, IL, Cindy M. (Jim) Feeney of Channahon, IL and Joy E. (Bob) Harrelson of Centre, AL; devoted grandfather of five; proud great-grandfather of ten; fond brother of Maj. Gen. Richard (Pam) Scholtes, U.S. Army, Retired, of South Carolina; and dear uncle of several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Ray Scholtes were held Saturday May 26, 2018, at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
