Gary M. Bebar

Gary Michael Bebar, age 62, a life long resident of Joliet, passed away peacefully, Monday, May 28, 2018 at home, with his loving family by his side.

Born August 9, 1955, in Joliet, he was the son of Philip J. and Audrey (nee Scheuber) Bebar.  He was a graduate of  St. Mary's Grade School, Providence High School, and the University of St. Francis.  

Gary enjoyed three different careers during his lifetime.  His first was as a high school mathematics teacher, and then as a member of Carpenter's Local #174.  He later earned his CPA and worked as an accountant until his retirement in 2017.

Gary was a kind and generous man who was devoted to his wife and son.  He loved to travel and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He married the love of his life, Judith (nee McGraw) Bebar on June 4, 1977 in the Chapel of the College of St. Francis, and they enjoyed 40 years of marriage.

Surviving are his loving wife, Judith, of Joliet; his devoted son, Joshua Bebar of Chicago; one sister, Mary (Terry) Wetmore; three brothers, William (Jacqueline) Bebar of Joliet, Daniel (Mary) Bebar of Joliet, and Fred Bebar of Shorewood.  He will also be fondly remembered by his mother-in-law, Evelyn McGraw, and the entire McGraw family.  Many nieces, nephews,  great nieces, great nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles are also left to cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his father, Philip (Delores) Bebar; his mother Audrey Bebar; and a brother, John (Georgianne) Bebar.

The family would like to thank Joliet Area Community Hospice for their compassionate care.

A Memorial Gathering for Gary M. Bebar will begin at 1:30 p.m. until the time of a Memorial Service at 2:30 p.m., on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at Parkview Christian Church, 11100 Orland Parkway, Orland Park, IL 60476.  Interment will be private.
