Obituary of Betty Lou Kinsella
Betty L. (nee Steffes) Kinsella passed away peacefully at the rural family farm, Thursday, May 31, 2018. Born October 30, 1931, she was the daughter of Arthur and Rosella (nee Christensen) Steffes and the last remaining child of 13. She graduated from Minooka Community High School and then attended St. Joseph School of Nursing graduating in 1952. On September 20, 1952 she married John F. (Jack) Kinsella. Betty worked as a nurse in various settings including private duty, offices, and a nursing home supervisor. After her retirement, she spent her winters in Florida. Betty enjoyed golfing, quilting and being with her family. She was instrumental in the formation of the Nettle Creek Ladies Golf League.
Betty is survived by her children, John (Carolyn); Bruce (Lisa), Ken (Debra Jo), and Steve (Kris). She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren, Michael (Kristin), Kathleen (Victor) Rexroade, Colleen, Jacquelyn, Ryan (Gretchen), Greg, Randi, Jeff, Cody and Elizabeth (Andrew) Jackson; 9 great-grandchildren, Luke Behrends, Sadie, Matthew and Harper Kinsella, Caleb, Max and Helen Rexroade, Sloan Kinsella and Lucas Jackson; numerous nieces and nephews and her sisters in-law, Lorraine Steffes, Lois Steffes, Barbara Price and Dorothy Kinsella.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband, John F. “Jack” in 1991; her son, Jeff in 1984; her grandson, Matthew in 1996; her parents, Arthur and Rosella (nee Christensen) Steffes; five sisters, Lila Rehberg, Rosemary Mastin, Eleanor St. Germain, Margaret Meyer and Gladys Mattox; seven brothers, Virgil Steffes, Leo Steffes, Donald Steffes, Arthur Steffes, Jr., Gerald Steffes, Wesley Steffes and Lloyd Steffes. She is the last of her siblings to pass away.
Visitation for Betty Kinsella will be Monday, June 4, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Route 6 at Deerpath Drive, Morris. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 10:30 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to St. Mary Catholic Church, 303 W. St. Mary’s Street, Minooka, IL 60447 for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Minooka.
