Obituary of Joseph N. Zameic
Joseph N. Zameic, age 92, of Joliet, passed away suddenly at home, and went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 7, 2018.
Born October 17, 1925 in Joliet, he was a lifelong resident. He was a graduate of Joliet Junior College and Chicago Kent College of Law, where he earned a law degree. He formerly worked for Caterpillar, and retired from the United States Department of Energy, near Argonne Laboratory, having worked there for 25 years.
Joseph had a love for big band music, and Harry James was his idol. He directed the Joel Berry Quartet as a trumpet player. During the 1950s, he also performed as a hypnotist. He was a member of the Local #37 Joliet Federation of Musicians, and enjoyed new and classic car shows, air shows, and reading.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 61 years, Carole (nee Evert) Zameic; two daughters, Debra Zameic and Linda (Glen) Powalish; his son, David Zameic; two grandsons, Eric and Jake; a sister, Dorothy (Terry) Takacs; a brother-in-law, Gene Menozzi; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary (nee Videtich) Zameic; his step-father, Louis Planick; one sister, Marie Menozzi; a brother, Raymond Zameic; and a sister-in-law, Jean Zameic.
A celebration of Joseph’s life will begin with a visitation on Monday, June 11, 2018 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus, 604 N. Raynor Avenue, Joliet, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville.
