Obituary of Dolores Washkowiak
Dolores M. Washkowiak, (nee Bozonelos), age 88, of Joliet, and formerly of Peru, IL passed away unexpectedly at home on June 6, 2018.
Born April 28, 1930 in Peru, IL, she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Helen Bozonelos. She married the love of her life, Edward M. “Wash” Washkowiak, Jr., and he preceded her in death on July 9, 2005 following 52 years of marriage. Two sisters, Mary Ann Perra and Joan (Ted) Martin; and one brother, Robert (Edith) Bozonelos also preceded her in death.
Dolores worked as a secretary for the Sehring Law Firm and later for the St. Charles Borromeo Pastoral Center for many years.
She will be remembered for her deep faith in God, her unconditional love, her devotion to family, and her selfless, giving and humble personality. She loved to entertain, was an excellent cook, and enjoyed planning and celebrating everyone’s birthdays, holidays and special occasions.
Family was the most important part of her life. She was the rock of her family. Family dinners, family vacations, and spending time together are the memories she made special. Her home was welcoming to everyone. Her family meant the world to her and she loved spending time with them the most.
She loved her flowers, especially her roses and lilacs, tending to her home, and attending Mass at the Cathedral of St. Raymond.
Surviving are her four children, Duane (Patti) Washkowiak of Tempe, AZ, Karen (LeRoy) Bryan of Joliet, Mary Kay (John) Hallock of Rockford, and Christina (William) Muren of Channahon; ten grandchildren, Candita (James) McGrail, Shawn Bryan, Michael (Eryn) Washkowiak, Timothy (Sarah) Washkowiak, Matthew Washkowiak, Christopher (Kaylin) Bryan, Andrew Bryan, John (Lara) Hallock, Michael Hallock, Emily (Nate) Hazlerig ; twelve great-grandchildren, Ella and Gianna, Bishop and Julius, Kayliegh, Matthew and Ellie, Sophia and Lucas, Olivia, Marcus and Jude, Ryder and Sophora; one sister, Jeanette (the late Stanley) Piotroski; two brothers, James (Sally) Bozonelos and Michael (Tammy) Bozonelos; a brother-in-law, Paul Perra; numerous nieces and nephews; and her special furry family who loved to visit their Grandma often, Scotty, Maggie, Molly and Sophie.
