Obituary of Betty M. Melick

Betty M. Melick, passed away peacefully, with her loving family by her side, on Monday, July 16, 2018.  She was born September 7, 1922, to Edna and Karl Kapff in Toledo, OH.

Betty married Jim, the love of her life, on January 24, 1942.  They lived most of their married life in Oregon, Ohio, moving to Morris in 2000.  She retired as an Office Manager for an Ophthalmologist in 1982.

Betty’s hobbies included quilting, baking, gardening, and reading.  Her love of traveling and hiking took her and Jim to every state, numerous times, in their motor home.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Judy Stemen; granddaughter, Melissa Pilch; grandson, Don (Jen) Stemen; great grandchildren, McKenzie and Maddi Pilch and Anna & Jonah Stemen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim and her parents.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, 101 Candlelight Lane, Morris, IL 60450, where Betty was a member, on Saturday, July 21, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Lu Cantrell officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Peace Lutheran Church.  For more information, please call (815) 942-5040 or you may visit her Memorial Tribute at www.fredcdames.com
