“Pat”

Pat went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 25, 2018.  She was born October 8, 1928, to the late Charles and Leora Hull, and raised in Southwestern Pennsylvania.  There she met her future husband, Clair Ling, the son of Elmer and Mary Ling, of Central City, PA.  They were married in Cairnbrook, PA in July of 1951, enjoying over 30 years of marriage before Clair’s passing in 1983.  

They relocated to Channahon, IL, where she resided for 35 years, and attended Messiah Lutheran Church beginning in 1983.  She moved to Cherry Valley, CA, in 1985 and she spent much of her time caring for her aging parents who lived only two miles away.

Pat was very active in Cherry Valley and was a member of the Chamber of Commerce for several years.  She volunteered her time on many occasions to things that were important to the community and its residents.  Pat was a very generous and giving person.

She battled cancer for the past several years and was in constant pain from various surgeries and treatments.  Pat very much appreciated the prayers of her former church family at Messiah Lutheran, who prayed for her health and comfort over her last several years.  Although she suffered a great deal in that time, she was still able to help others through her knitting, crocheting, quilting and embroidering.  She made over 700 beanies that she donated to her doctor’s office so they could be given to cancer patients who had lost their hair from their treatments.  She knitted many afghan’s and crafted numerous quilts, pillow cases, and blankets.  Pat truly had a gift for handmade items, many of which she gave away to people in need.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clair Ling (1983) and her parents.  

Pat is survived by her son, Randall Ling of Channahon; daughter-in-law, Laurel Ling; two grandsons, Brian and Keith Ling; brother, Charles Hull of Fallbrook CA; three sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.
