Obituary of Michael J. Ward
Michael J. Ward, age 72, passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 25, 1945, in Joliet, IL, to the late Christopher and Maxine (nee Sadler) Ward.
Michael was a P.E. Teacher, Coach, Dean and Drivers Education Instructor at Bolingbrook High School, before retiring in 2002. One of his greatest joys was being an educator.
He enjoyed cycling, fishing, and his many trips to his cabin in Ely, MN. Michael was a true outdoors man. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren, and will be truly missed.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Donna M. (nee Connor) Ward; three children, Coleen (Jason) Franklin, Carrie (William) Driscoll and Craig (Robin) Ward; seven grandchildren, Gavin, Sarah and James Driscoll, Quinn and Blake Franklin, and Henry and Michael Ward; and two brothers Chris (Katie) Ward and Pat (Carol) Ward. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation for Michael J. Ward will be held on Wednesday morning, August 15, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. until time of Chapel Services at 11:00 a.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. Rev. Fr. Chris Groh will officiate. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park II. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to the Alzheimer Association (Joliet Office), 850 Essington Road, #200, Joliet, IL 60435 would be appreciated.
