Obituary of William Muren

William J. Muren, age 84, of Joliet, passed away Saturday, September 8, 2018 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria.  During the past year, he had been a resident of the Illinois Veterans Home in LaSalle.

Born May 20, 1934 in Joliet, he was the son of Anton and Frances (nee Baudek) Muren, and was a proud veteran of the United States Army.  He was the owner of Custom Motors in Joliet, before going to work for Dura Containers which became Brockway Glass.  He later founded Muren Motors in Joliet, which he operated until his retirement in 2000.

Bill was a devoted father and brother.  He loved animals, especially cats.

Surviving are his three sons, William (Christina) Muren of Minooka, Jeffrey (fiancée Christine Pubentz) Muren of Joliet, and Michael Muren of Joliet; one brother, Robert (the late Lillian) Muren; three sisters, Dorothy “Sis” (the late James) Patch, Mary Ann (the late Raymond Pesavento) (Tom) Walsh, and Gloria (Raymond) Prieboy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lillian (Donald) Worrell; a brother, John, in infancy; and his dear companion, Helga Deiringer.

A Memorial Service for William J. Muren will be held Thursday, September 13, 2018 at 7:30 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet, where Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m.

Cremation rites have been accorded and Graveside Services with interment to follow will be held Friday, September 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the United States Army and the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Memorial Squad.
