Obituary of Marianne Hasse
Marianne Hasse, (nee Donick), age 77, of Plainfield the past 42 years, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, September 29, 2018 at home.
Born July 27, 1941 in Joliet, she was the daughter of Leo and Dorothy (nee Henry) Donick, and was a graduate of St. John the Baptist Grade School and St. Francis Academy.
Marianne was a homemaker taking care of her large and busy family. She later worked for Plainfield Community Consolidated School District #202 until retirement. She was involved in all her children’s lives and activities, and coached girls basketball, volleyball and track for many years. When the next generation arrived, she loved being surrounded by her grandchildren and their activities as well. She also found time to volunteer for Joliet Area Community Hospice for over 10 years.
She will be remembered as a wonderful and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt whose unconditional love was never questioned.
She married the love of her life, Walter J. “Mickey” Hasse, Sr., and they enjoyed 51 years of marriage prior to his passing August 6, 2017. An infant daughter, Lorraine; an infant grandson, C. P. Chartrand; her parents; three sisters, Margaret (Jay) Galligan, Judith Weber and Jeannine (Jerry) Broadus; and a brother, James (Shirley) Donick also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her four loving children, Walter Jr. (Angie) Hasse, Loretta Chartrand, Daniel Hasse, and Phillip (Jacqueline) Hasse; six grandchildren, Cadey Chartrand, and Lillian, Dylan, Anthony, Ella, and Emily Hasse; a brother-in-law, Syl Weber; her husband’s older sister, Anna Marie (the late Donald) Blazevic; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation for Marianne Hasse will be held Wednesday, October 3, 2018 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet. Funeral services will be held Thursday, at 8:45 a.m., from the funeral home to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation and inurnment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Joliet Area Community Hospice or the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
