Dear Sherri and family, Please receive my prayers and condolences in these moments of loss for Jeff. My family informed me about Jeff's passing and I inmediately offered a mass for his intention. He was a good man. He was very dedicated and sort of shy in High School. HE would do anything for his friends and he got along well with his older borther Steve. I don't know if you remember last year on my "Thanksgiving" visit home in the vestuable of St Mary's. He came right up to me and looked me in the eye and said "Do you know who I am"? The face was familiar and then it hit me. "Jeff Erickson", I said and he got a good laugh out of it. I am so sorry for your loss Sherri and I will keep sending prayers your way. Be strong! God bless you and you are in my prayers. Fr Dean Stasell, LC

Condolences to Sherri, her children, grandchildren, and all of the Ericksons. I regret that news from home takes so long to get here. I had the privilege to spend many childhood years with the Ericksons, and what is remembered most is laughter, love and an immeasurable energy that made the hours and days in a sleepy little town absolutely sensational.

Ok; I will bite on the memory post… Jeff and I, plus all the Plainfield athletes grew up playing ball the old fashioned way. There were never any parents around, we made our own rules, picked our teams and all ages got into the game. If you did not come home bleeding or with a shiner, you weren’t playing hard enough. In 7th and 8th grade we played Tackle Pop Warner Foot Ball at Indian Trail. I have this memory because Jeff just loved to compete playing any game. We were practicing, he a tail back, me a right end on defense. Jeff had a very good juke which he used on me effectively a couple of times or more. But the one time he juked toward me unknowing of course, I caught him good. The ole wrap around, helmet in the chest, pick off the ground and pile drive onto his back... The clack of the contact was that of one of my best hits. We both popped up, and he looked at me with that crooked smile and said, nice hit Goodie it’s about time… I thought to myself, now that is what good sportsmanship was all about. He was Blessed Man with a Great Family and Friends. I’m thankful for the time we shared together, and even thou we’ll miss him, his memories will last forever.
