Obituary of Glenn A. Salzmann, Sr.
Glenn A. Salzmann, Sr.
Glenn A. Salzmann, Sr. passed away at the age of 51, on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 28, 1967, in Hayward, WI, to the union of Fred and Lucille (nee Cross) Salzmann. Glenn grew up in the Hayward area and was a graduate of Spooner High School, Class of 1985. He proudly served in the National Guard for over 13 years as a Combat Engineer and Staff Sergeant. Glenn was a crane operator and delivery supply man with Richards Building Supply Company in Dwight and worked for several years at J.L. Adler Roofing, Inc. in Joliet and Riddiford Roofing Company in Arlington Heights, as a roofer.
Glenn was the epitome of the true outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, racing snowmobiles and four wheeling, but his passion was for hunting. He thoroughly enjoyed his hunting trips with his son in Hayward, WI. Glenn was a strong willed man, some may even call him “stubborn”, but above all he was a true family man that loved his wife and was proud of his children.
Glenn is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Dayna R. (nee Hagans); three children, Ashley (Joseph) Meador, Stefanie (Nicholas) Koehler, and Glenn “Bucko” Salzmann, Jr.; four grandchildren, Aidan, Easton, and Leighton Meador, and Beckett Koehler; six siblings, Robert (Janice) Salzman, Elaine “Cissy” (the late Jack Logan) Salzmann, Darrell (Bonnie) Salzman, Judy (the late Fred) Detray, Lillian (Mark) Suino, and Henry (Gina) Salzmann; and his longtime friend and hunting partner, Gabriel Islas. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
He is preceded by his parents; his sister in infancy, Sharon Salzmann; and his brother, Lawrence “Bobo” Salzmann.
