Obituary of Norman Lee Carlson
Norman L. Carlson
Age 87, of Joliet, IL died Thursday, October 4, 2018, at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center. He was born January 3, 1931, in Lockport, IL, to the late Doris (nee Voight) and Arnold Carlson. A U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, who served during the Korean War, Norm was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
Beloved husband of 64 years to Ranelle (nee Grasty) Carlson; loving father of Lynda Sue Lucas, the late Daniel Carlson, Teri Carlson and Norman L. (Mary Beth) Carlson, Jr.; proud grandfather of Nate, Evan and Sam Carlson; dear brother of Arnietta (Kenneth) Gombosi, the late Richard (the late Doreen) Carlson and Doris Ann (the late Robert) Evans.
Norm retired from Caterpillar, Inc. after 34 years of dedicated service. He was previously employed at Folger Adams Locking Systems. A proud member for over 51 years of the Joliet Ski Club, Norm could be found spending leisure time fishing, hiking, backpacking, snow skiing and cave spelunking. He also enjoyed bowling.
As it was Norm’s wish, cremation rites have been accorded. All friends and relatives are invited to gather on Thursday, October 11, 2018, from 1:15 p.m. until committal prayers and military honors begin at 1:30 p.m., at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Rd., Elwood, IL 60421. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name can be made to the American Cancer Society.
