Obituary of Richard Anderson
Richard F. Anderson
Age 73, a lifelong Shorewood resident, passed away Friday May 21, 2010 in Hudson, Florida.
Born September 4, 1936 in Joliet, Illinois to the late Ralph and Dorothea (Eaton) Anderson.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Donna (nee Vincent); Four sons, Dan (Kim), David (Laura), Douglas (Amy) and Donald (Stephanie) Anderson. Eight grandchildren, Joshua, Morgan, Brittany, Kyle, Hannah, Allie and Easton Anderson and Bradley Nordland. A cousin Gilbert (Patti) Anderson also survives.
Richard was a second generation owner of Anderson's Towing and I-55 Auto Salvage. He was also the owner of Crossroads Shopping Plaza and Restaurant in Shorewood and was previously employed as a fire inspector at Argonne National Laboratory.
An Army Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division, Richard was a member of the Troy Volunteer Fire Department where he served in various officer positions; a former Shorewood Village Board member as well as a member and Past President of the Shorewood Lions Club, Joliet Elks Lodge #296 and Loyal Order of the Moose, Joliet Lodge #300.
Richard enjoyed spending time with his family and playing cards with family and friends.
Funeral services for Richard F. Anderson will be Wednesday May 26, 2010, 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park II. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to the Shorewood Lions Club would be appreciated. Visitation Tuesday, 4-9 p.m. at:
