Deborah Jean Cobden
(nee Peterson)
Deborah Jean Cobden, of Minooka and formerly of Crest Hill, passed away at the age of 64 on Friday, October 19, 2018, at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Deb was born on December 22, 1953, in Joliet, IL, the oldest daughter of Gordon and Shelby (nee Brooks) Peterson. She was a 1972 graduate of Lockport West High School and attended Joliet Junior College. Deb has been a dedicated employee of Eco Labs in Joliet for 37 years, most recently in the shipping and receiving department. She was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Joliet where she enjoyed teaching Sunday school.
Deb was a devoted wife and mother who loved spending time with her family; she enjoyed organizing and hosting parties at her home where she would be able to bake for all that would attend. She was active in the Boy Scouts with her son, enjoyed traveling on cruises, reading a good book, and being creative with crafts. Her love of nature kept her outdoors where she would often feed the deer and squirrels, and always made sure there was something for the Hummingbirds. She had a caring and gentle demeanor that will be missed by all that knew her.
Deb is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Clifford P. Cobden; her children, Sharon (Ray) Anderson of Minooka and Ryan (Hilary) Cobden of North Aurora; two grandchildren, Jacob (Ashley) Anderson of Joliet and Gabi Anderson of Minooka; her mother, Shelby Peterson of Joliet; two sisters, Darlene (Mark) Bistry of Shorewood and Denise (Gary) Clark of Joliet; and two cousins, Jacque (Jim) Johnson of Plainfield and Dave (Gail) Yakich of Elwood. She is also survived by aunts, uncles, and three nieces.
She was preceded by her father; grandparents; her maternal grandmother, Martha Brooks, with whom she had a special bond; and her aunt, Joan (Bernie) Yakich.
