Obituary of Elizabeth A. Schinderle

Elizabeth A. Schinderle, (nee Nutt), age 91, formerly of Plainfield, IL, passed away Monday, November 19, 2018 at Senior Star of Romeoville, with her loving family by her side.

Elizabeth, known by her family and friends at “Beth”, was born in Keokuk, IA to the late Gerald and Elizabeth (nee McCarty) Nutt and was raised in Carthage, IL.  In 1945, she joined the Cadet Nurse Corps and received her training at St. Francis Hospital in Peoria.  In 1948, Beth was assigned to the Veterans Hospital outside of Milwaukee, WI.  There she met the love of her life, Robert F. Schinderle, “Bob”.  They married in 1949 and enjoyed 69 years of marriage.

In 1965, the family moved to Plainfield, IL.  Beth returned to nursing part-time and completed her nursing degree at the University of St. Francis, Joliet, while raising her young children and supporting Bob in his successful career as Chief Executive Officer of St. Joseph Medical Center.

Beth was a long time member and served in leadership positions with St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, Joliet Women of Rotary, Presence St. Joseph Medical Center Auxiliary, and the Guild of Joliet Area Community Hospice.  Beth was known as a gracious hostess, opening her home and extending her many talents to support charitable causes.

Beth is survived by her husband, Robert of Romeoville; son, David (Maria) Schinderle of San Juan Capistrano, CA; daughter, Mary Duchene of Crest Hill, IL; and son, Brian (Monica) Schinderle of Wilmette, IL.  She will be lovingly remembered by her seven grandchildren, Meghan (Aaron) Clem, Gregory Schinderle, Katherine (Dan) Isaacson, Matthew (Lindsay) Duchene, Wilson Schinderle, Abigail Schinderle, Nathan Schinderle; and her three great-grandchildren, Nico, Luca and Micalina Clem.

Visitation for Elizabeth Schinderle will be held Friday, November 23, 2018, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet, IL.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 15629 S. Rt. 59, Plainfield, IL, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

Cremation rites will be accorded following services and interment will be in St. Mary Immaculate Cemetery at a later date.
