Obituary of Leonard Eichelberger
Leonard W. Eichelberger
Age 84. Passed away Sunday, July 6, 2008 at Heritage Manor, Bloomington.
Born November 29, 1923 in Lockport, to William and Janet (nee Ayres) Eichelberger, he was a lifelong Joliet resident and a graduate of Joliet Township High School. A veteran of both the United States Army and Navy. Lifetime member of Cantigny VFW Post #367 and St. Peter Lutheran Church. Retired from the E.J.&E. Railroad after 32 years of service.
Leonard was an active volunteer at his VFW Post, especially Bingo, but most enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Survived by his devoted daughters, Lynne (Bradley) Harrell of Bloomington, IL and Jayne (Gary) Gamble of Roseburg, OR; four grandchildren, Ryan Miller, Ross Miller, whom he had raised from infancy, Brock Harrell and Breanne Harrell; one sister, Jean "Betty" (late Robert) Grey of Largo, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Doris E. (nee Weiss) Eichelberger (2006); his daughter, Nancy Miller (1986); his parents, and one sister in infancy.
Funeral services for Leonard Eichelberger will be Thursday, July 10, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park II. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Passages Hospice, 315 N. Prairie, Bloomington, IL 61701 would be appreciated. Visitation THURSDAY, 9:30 a.m. until time of services at:
