Obituary of Arthur Surges
Arthur Surges passed away, at the age of 66, from injuries sustained in a car accident on Wednesday, December 12, 2018. He was born on August 15, 1952 to his biological mother and was adopted shortly after by Robert and Annabelle Surges. Arthur was a miracle baby. Not only was he born at a mere 2.2 pounds, but he was legally deaf and overcame many obstacles in life. He resided in Chicago most of his childhood and graduated from Marist High School in 1970. Art continued his education at Valparaiso University, where he graduated in 1974, with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He retired from Exelon Corporation after 25 years of dedicated service.
Art has spent the last 30 years of his life living in his family home in Minooka, Illinois. When he wasn’t working, he always kept himself busy. He enjoyed numerous hobbies which included woodworking, collecting tools, hiking, camping and much more. He also sought comfort in attending a Christian marriage group.
Art is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Magdelana Surges; his daughters, Erica (Chuck) Beard and Samantha Surges; his grandchildren, Winter Beard, Isabelle Beard, and Aurora Surges; and his sister-in-law, Anna Hanecker.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
