Obituary of Mary A. Soderlund

Mary A. Soderlund

Age 52, passed away suddenly Sunday, January 20, 2019, at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital.  Born in Chicago on March 22, 1966, she was the daughter of Ronald and Nora (nee McClanahan) Sanderson.  Mary was employed with the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, with 18 years of dedicated service.  She enjoyed cooking, cleaning her house and spending time with her family and grandson.  A caring, amazing and loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother, she will be remembered as the “Mother Hen”, with a heart of gold, and will never be forgotten.    

Mary is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Richard E. Soderlund; three children, Crystal (Isreal) Palencia, Jennifer (fiancé Ryan Nakamura) Soderlund and Richard E. (Victoria Rossi) Soderlund, II; grandsons, Richard Joseph Soderlund and baby Julian; her parents; and sister, Patricia (Joseph) Jagielski.  Many nieces, nephews and dearest friends also survive.  

She was preceded in death by her brother, Genoe Gacek.

Visitation for Mary A. Soderlund will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2019, from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet.  Funeral Services will be Friday, at 9:00 a.m., from the funeral home chapel, to Holy Family Catholic Church, 600 Brook Forest Ave., Shorewood, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will follow at Holy Sepluchre Cemetery, Alsip.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation would be appreciated.  For more information, please call 815-741-5500 or visit her Memorial Tribute at www.fredcdames.com
