I taught with Theresa (& Bill) at St. Francis Academy until it closed. She & I shared lunch together many years. She taught me much about teaching and made me a better teacher. I think of her every time I eat an apple, as she always ate the core!
My the Lord take her quickly into his loving arms.

To the family of Mrs. Burns-
Although many memories of high school have dimmed over the years, I distinctly remember certain teachers. With Mrs. Burns, I also remember certain traits. I remember a very lively and welcoming woman who had a strong force of nature quality to her. I didn't always enjoy learning French, but I did enjoy her. She always, always had a genuine, beautiful and welcoming smile for all of her students. I'm sure she even appreciated some of our classroom hijinks because I remember her laughter as well.
My sincere sympathy to your family. I am sure that she filled your hearts with infinite amounts of memories and love.
....Repose en paix mon cher professeur. ♡♡

Mrs. Burns taught me French for 4 years in high school. She, her husband Bill, and her daughter Nora also were chaperones on my trip to France my senior year. Mrs. Burns had me read The Little Prince in French, and to this day, that book is my most loved book. She was and still is the best teacher I have ever had. She inspired me. She led with her heart. She left an indelible impression on me. I shall never forget her. She will be very missed by so very many.

My Great Aunt Theresa was a wondeful woman. I was a rebellious teenager and my parents decided it was best if I attend Joliet Catholic HS. My Aunt was a French teacher there so assumed it would be an easy A. Signed up for her class immediately. Well an easy A was not what happened. However, a woman willing to tutor and help in her free time and constantly checking up on me throughout the day to make sure I was staying on track. Those are my fond memories of my Aunt. Je t’aime repose en paix

I was very sad to hear of Madame's passing. I studied French with her for 4 years at SFA and was lucky to be able to go on the trip to France. I have thought of her often since my high school years. She was tough, but that made us actually learn the language. I still attempt to speak French. My prayers and condolences to your family. Just know that she is remembered by many. Sue

Connections are so very important. Aunt Theresa was my strongest connection to my mother's family. Her and Bill shared stories of my parents and my childhood. Theresa helped my wife and I find the distant family connections in Slovenia. Her help with planning our trip made it possible to visit my mother's home in Slovenia. She also shared the family tree she had researched.
My connection will be missed.
God Bless my cousins and their families.

I have such fond memories as a kid of running nextdoor and barging in to spend time with Bill and Theresa. They were always willing to let me join them, whether it was cooking with Theresa or gardening with Bill. I'm so sorry that they're gone from us. But I know they are now eternally together and happy in the afterlife. Love and hugs to you all.

I'm so sorry for the Loss of your Mom. ❤ She was a Wonderful Caring Mom, Wife, Sister, Grandmother and Great Grandmother and my Aunt. If it wasn't for her and her generous Gift of my Education to St. Francis Academy. I may never have gotten my Admin. Secretarial Job in Oak Brook, Illinois one month before I even graduated from High School. Their I met my husband of 35 years. I will always be grateful for that. I pray that she is now in Heaven with God and her Husband, her Parents and her two Sisters, (one of which is my Mom). She will be missed by many. God Bless you Aunt Theresa. Dear God please watch over her Children and Grandchildren and Sister in this time of Grief. Love your Niece Ginny (Ellena) Smith
