Obituary of Matthew Allen Storie
Matthew Allen “Matt” Storie, age 25, returned to his Heavenly Home on Sunday, February 10, 2019, as the result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. His devotion to his family and his faith in Jesus Christ was evident to all.
Matt was born to Craig Storie and Sherry (nee Ahrens) Russ, in Hazel Crest, IL on October 23, 1993. He was immersed in the Christian community that would be his lifelong support from an early age.
He was talented musician and song writer. Matt helped lead many congregations in worship of his King Jesus. He regularly invested in local youth and shared is faith boldly to everyone he encountered. Matt was passionate about leading others to Christ. To know him, was to love him, and those who did knew he was never afraid to mix it up with his goofy self and always knew how to make people laugh hard.
Matt was blessed with a large and loving family. He married his best friend and fellow Christ follower, Katie (nee King) Storie, on April 23, 2018 and was able to enjoy the birth of their baby daughter, Molly, on November 5th, 2018. Matt cherished his wife and daughter.
He served in the National Guard and was a champion for the meek. Matt was kind and soft-spoken, and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small. He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is now worshiping his creator face to face.
Matt is survived by his wife, Katie (nee King) Storie; his daughter Molly; his brother, Brandon (Casey) Fleeman; sisters; Jessica (Joshua) Crowley, Taylor (Caleb) Wyncott, Lizibeth Russ, Angelica Marrero; his parents, Craig (Diane) Storie and Sherry (Paul) Russ; his grandparents, Eugene and Jean Storie and Joan Russ; and his wife's parents, Bob and Laura King.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Nick and Katherine Ahrens and Anton Russ.
Matt’s life will be celebrated on Monday, February 18, 2019, from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at 10:00 a.m., at Community Christian Church, 24035 W. Riverwalk Ct., Plainfield, with a reception to follow. Pastor Jonathan Horsfall, of Life Church Morris, will officiate.
The family humbly asks that any donations be made to Matt’s wife, Katie Storie, and prayers, condolences and memories are gladly accepted on Matt’s Facebook page.
