Obituary of James W. Sheppard
James W. “Jim” Sheppard, age 82, of Shorewood, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 14, 2019, at the Illinois Veterans Home at LaSalle, LaSalle, IL. Jim was born June 29, 1936 in Joliet, IL. Jim was known for his love of family and friends, cars and gun collecting. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Janet (nee Hess) Sheppard; son, Arthur “Skip” Mutchler; and parents, Floyd and Josephine (nee Holloway) Sheppard.
He is survived by his brother, Joe Sheppard; sister, Mary Nai; cousin, Elaine Smith and children: Vicki LaBrecque (Mark), Lori Longieliere, Jyme Sue McLaren (Mark), Rosemarie “Terry” Mutchler (Myke), Jeri Lynn Mutchler and Terry Tait (Hope); multiple grandchildren, including Marcus LaBrecque, Ian LaBrecque, Matthew Mutchler, Daniel Bene (Toni), Matthew Longieliere, Brianna Longieliere and Katie Angelini; numerous great grandchildren; and lifelong friends, including Donny Watts, Jerry and Meredith "Merry" Lankford and Louie and Bernice Vargas.
A Graveside Service for James W. Sheppard with military honors will be held on Monday, February 18, 2019, at 12:30 p.m., at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Road, Elwood, IL 60421. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Illinois Veterans Home at LaSalle, 1015 O’Connor Avenue, LaSalle, IL 61301. Arrangements entrusted to the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home.
