Obituary of Eugene Richardson
Eugene “Gene” Richardson
Age 84, of Seneca, IL and formerly Chicago, IL passed peacefully Wednesday February 13, 2019 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa, IL. He was born October 3, 1934 to the late Amanda (nee Smith) and Ed Richardson in Booneville, Kentucky where he was raised and resided until he moved to Chicago at the age of 21. He loved the big city and everything it offered, however he found his niche and a sense of tranquility when he relocated to Seneca 25 years ago.
Gene was an Electrician by trade, but could fix most anything. One glance at a manual or instructions was all it took, if even that.
He is survived by his daughter Shirley (Paul) Prosek; #2 daughter, April (Matthew) Musick; grandchildren, Greg Gentilcore, Adam (Melissa), Tommy (Clara) and Jake (Meghan) Prosek; great-grandchildren, Chandler, Kassidy, C.J., Nick and Holly. Several nieces, nephews and his canine companion, “Sammy” also survive.
Preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
Whether visiting the range or setting up targets, he enjoyed his favorite pastime of shooting and also was proud of his gun collection.
As it was Gene’s wish cremation rites will be accorded. A Memorial Service is being planned for the summer and will be announced. In lieu of flowers, please consider adopting a pet or a donation in Gene’s name to your local humane society.
