I was greatly saddened to hear of my friend’s passing. Bobby Walsh was my first friend at Elwood grade school. He was in second grade. I was in first grade with his brother, Larry Walsh. Bobby and I were both the oldest boys in our farm families. That meant we got the brunt of the hardest work.
Bobby was the older brother I never had. We were life long friends. We shelled corn together. He even let me drive his brand new white 66 Malibu, by myself! Later, we both graduated from SIU in Carbondale IL. Bobby helped me get out of a bad lease at my dorm. Bob had a way with people. He took no poop from anyone. But he was nice about it.
We both became high school teachers.
Bobby loved cigars and beer. We smoked and drank many beers together. Larry and I also did the same.
The Robert Walsh family just lost Eddie and now Bobby? It’s hard on any family. But farmers feel it more.
My deepest condolences to all of the Walsh’s. They truly are one of the most successful families I have had the privilege of knowing. One of Will County’s finest and most prominent families.
Rest In Peace, Bobby. I know you’re in Heaven. You were a fine person and a dear friend.
I will miss you and NEVER forget you. Dennis

To the Walsh family,
Please know that we will miss Robert very much. I know that he is at peace now, but Linda, you and your family will always have memories of those wonderful years you had together.
We will miss him at Silver Cross Hospital. He was a wonderful patient and it was a pleasure to have met both of you.
He will forever be in our hearts and if you need anything please let me know.
God Bless you and your Family,
