Our sympathy to Barb's family. We were devastated to hear of her passing. She was the most kind, caring, loving person that we have ever known. We were very proud that she always called us Uncle Ernie and Auntie Rosemary. We have many wonderful memories of the fun times that our families shared when Barb and her sisters were small. She will be forever in our hearts. Our love for her will never end. Love and prayers to her wonderful family.

I am the "other" pen-friend, of 45 years. Marilee beats me by 5 years, but Barb always said we were the only ones who stood the pace! The difference is that I live in England so our opportunities for meeting up were limited - the first time was when I felt the need for a "family" Christmas. Laura and Donna were little, and Julie a baby. I was welcomed as one of the family, and never felt a stranger. We had another meeting one summer in the 90s, and then finally in Amsterdam when she and Marilee were on their way back from Italy. Barb was amazed I took an overnight ferry and then a train (actually it's easier than flying as the ferry port is 11 miles away). I couldn't make it to Croatia. Over those years writing was an opportunity to "cry on a shoulder", and if the answer wasn't that fast in pre-internet days, it was therapeutic. Facebook meant pictures and short messages, and her early morning coffee chimed with my lunch-hour so we could have a real-time chat. I shall miss her as much as if she were one of the school friends I have known for years. Laura Donna and Julie are very much in my thoughts, and the only consolation is that Barb is no longer suffering the extensive treatment and uncertainty. She was certainly a strong and inspirational woman. Love you Barb, you long distance friend Corinne

I’m reading this in shock with tears of sadness to one of the most beautiful woman I have had the pleasure to know. We had plans to meet up at spring training for the Sox/cubs game on the 13th when I get a text from your mom that she was in the hospital but ok, then another when she was homeward bound on Monday the 18th, both of us looking forward on getting together when back in Chicago.
Our parents were great friends their whole lives and Barb made sure after her mom passed the friendship continued.
Barb’s love for her daughters, family, friends and her job with the White Sox was how she lived her life. Her smile, humor and big heart will always be
the memories I will treasure. Keeping your entire family in my prayers.
Barb...angel now in Heaven

I love you and will miss you Barb.
Death Is Nothing At All
By Henry Scott-Holland
Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away to the next room.
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other,
That, we still are.
Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way
which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word
that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect.
Without the trace of a shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same that it ever was.
There is absolute unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you.
For an interval.
Somewhere. Very near.
Just around the corner.
All is well.
Nothing is past; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before
only better, infinitely happier
and forever we will all be one together with Christ.
