So sorry for your loss. Our love and sympathy to the whole family. Jim did lose his battle with cancer. But he was very lucky to have the loving support of his family when he needed you most. May the love that brought you together to see him through it give you all the strength you need to get through the sadness now.

Over the years, I have had many discussions with Jim. We would typically discuss the parallels in our lives. We started as ushers at the wedding of his older brother Mike and my older sister Nancy. We both loved motorcycles and had many discussions at the old Honda of Joliet on Jefferson St. He was a Harley guy. Later it was service to our country via the Department of the Navy. Although we never spoke of it, we also shared Cancer. Unfortunately, in Jim's case, the disease moved quickly. Our service was during Vietnam Era, and so long ago it was somewhat modified in my memory. Thus, I was very surprised when my wife described the picture of Jim in his dress uniform. I was confused, was Jim a Marine? Yep, memory is a strange animal. So Jim, please accept my apology for thinking you a sailor. It is somewhat of a tradition that Marines (jar-heads) and Sailors (squids) poke fun at each other.

Jim,
When I saw you a few years ago. It made me very happy to see you. I was sorry to hear of your medical issues with your hips, but very glad you were able to get them replaced. I am so sad you did not beat your latest challenge. I know you gave your all. You were a proud Marine and we Thank you for your service. I personally wanted to Thank you for always being a good friend. You were always so special to me all these years. To leave that kind of impression on someone is a credit to your character. I know you felt at times that you may not have contributed to life. You could not have been more wrong. I feel that God had special plans for you. RIP my dear friend. I will miss you always.
