Julius J. Kustra

Age 99, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 19, 2019, at The Timbers of Shorewood.  Born in St. Louis, MO on October 22, 1919, Julius was a Chicago, IL resident before moving to Crest Hill, IL and retiring to Shorewood, IL.  He entered the U.S. Army at the age of 21 and proudly served his country for four years (1941-1945).  After his training in Infantry School at Ft. Benning, GA, Julius received the rank of Staff Sergeant (Technician 3rd Grade) and was then deployed to Africa and Italy with the 34th Infantry Division.  He was awarded with many medals during his time of service, including the Combat Medical Badge.

Julius is survived by his wife of 47 years, Congetta "Connie" (nee Ciancanelli) Dumovic Kustra; son, Robert (Joyce) of Elburn; Dr. Joseph (Katherine) Dumovic of Seattle, WA, Kathleen (Kenneth) Kendrick of Oswego and Fredrick Dumovic of Crest Hill; many grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by his son; Kevin Kustra; daughter, Constance Marie Kustra; siblings, Sr. Whilamine Kustra, Bernice Williamson, and Al Kustra.

Inurnment will be private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery where full Military Honors will be accorded under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Memorial Squad.  As it was Julius’ request, cremation rites have been accorded.  Fred C.
