Coach Harr was an icon at Joliet West for many years, and I'm happy to have had the experience as a student and athlete under his watch. Time adds a bit of perspective, and I find that as a teenager you may take for granted the exceptional mentors around you...as an adult you grow to appreciate them. Coach Harr's legacy will live on with many of us. So many great memories; my only regret was not reconnecting with him while living in the Chicago area. Rest in peace Coach.

Coach. You were my very first track coach as a little kid in the Summer Track Program. You inspired a love for Track and a will to win. You showed me how to be respectful and dignified on the track without losing the killer instinct. You were also there on my very last day of ever running track again. Even with an injury, you and my father helped me walk off that track with my head held high. You will truly be missed. Make sure you have that stopwatch ready to go in Heaven.

Thank you Coach for leading a bunch of young men to form brotherhoods and friendships that outlasted our Track & Field careers. You are not just a Hall of Famer, but you are a Legend. My deepest condolences to your family. Also my thanks to them for sharing you and your passion to coach with us. Rest well Coach. Your impact in this life will be felt for many generations to come.

Mr. Harr, Coach Harr was an instrumental part of my life and my families. He was the high school coach to my dad's feeder school track program and helped many young athletes hone their track and field skills, winning state titles and improving. Mr. Harr and Mr. Swank ran a summer track program for the kids and the high school students mentored us under their direction. I was disheartened to see this message acknowledging his passing as I had hoped some of the important people of our past were enjoying retirement and soaking in the sun,
Mr. Harr, I pray that you know the impact you had on so many young individuals and hope God watches over you.

It is a pleasure to reflect and appreciate the life of Coach Harr. He touched so many athletes and students that attended Joliet West. Whether he was in a cantankerous mood or happy one, he always carried a warm personality with him that we all felt. He's part of what made school fun and had us all rolling on the track bus going to and from meets. He wouldn't want us to be sad, and it would be hard to be whenever you thought about Coach. Your in heaven with Coach Swank now and still yelling at us to get the baton passes right. Bless you Coach.

Great Man, Great Coach, Great Loss!
My fondest memory is when I broke the school record the first time at Ottawa meet. Coach sat next to me on the bus all the way back and was more excited about that than I was.
My prayers are with him and his family in this time.

Coach Harr was one of the great ones. I will never forget his raspy voice. Heaven got a good one here. JTHS should name the gym or court after him. He meant a lot to that school and to thousands of students.
