Felbinger, Matilda "Tillie",
( Nee Ashenbrener)
Age 90. Passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 8, 2011 at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home.
Tillie was born in Moro, Arkansas on March 13, 1920. She was orphaned as a small child and moved to Joliet where she was raised and cared for by her foster mother, Johanna Mangotich.
She is survived by one son, Robert (Evelyn) Felbinger of Sun Prairie, WI; three daughters, Jo Ann (Steven) Mathews of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, Diane (Bill) Habiger of Joliet, IL, Paula (Greg) Molinaro of Rochester, MN; 11 grandchildren, Robert and Michael Felbinger, Jennifer (Joe) DeSimone, Cmdr. Steven (Meghan) Mathews, Jeffrey Mathews, Scott (Alex) Habiger, David (Sharon) Habiger, Kathleen (George) Panagopoulos, Gregory Molinaro, Karen (Jason) Meszaros, and Matthew (Katie) Molinaro; 12 great-grandchildren, Jackson, Jefferson and Harrison Mathews, Tyler, Kristiana, Carolyn, and Hannah Habiger, Peter and William Panagopoulos, Samantha and Lauren Meszaros and Natalie Molinaro. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Felbinger (1994); her parents, Andrew and Frances Ashenbrener ; three brothers, Stanley, Frank and Conrad Ashenbrener; four sisters, Justine Helix, Evelyn Duggan, Mitzie Weise and Helen Gibbons; and her foster mother, Johanna Mangotich.
She was formerly employed by Merichka's Restaurant. She was a member of Our Lady of Angels Auxiliary and a past member of CCW of St. Anne Church, Crest Hill, IL and Youngtimers of Lockport, IL.
Tillie's family was the most important thing in her life and she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. No one enjoyed the Activity Center more than Tillie where she met with her fellow residents daily. Everyone associated with OLA knew and loved her. The family would like to express its sincere appreciation for the care and attention bestowed on her by the Administration and Staff at OLA over the past thirteen years.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, 1201 Wyoming Avenue, Joliet, IL where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, January 13, 2011 at 10:00 AM. Interment at St. Mary Nativity Cemetery, Caton Farm Road in Crest Hill, IL. The family asks in lieu of flowers that memorials in her name be made to Our Lady of Angels.
