Rita Andrew
(nee Aggelopoulos)
Age 77. At rest peacefully Sunday, June 22, 2008 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Born in Joliet to the late George and Patricia Aggelopoulos, she was a lifelong resident. Rita was always employed in the supermarket industry and owned her own card and gift shop, The Lemon Drop in the Hickory Creek Shopping Plaza in Wilmington, IL, which she owned from 1972 until 1982. Rita was always with her husband, Nick, who was one of 24 men traveling the world to represent the U.S. Food Industry every year consecutively from 1975 until 1989, with Foreign Nations. Member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, the Daughters of Penelope, the Ladies Philoptochos Society, Ladies of Rotary, and the National Grocers Society 50 Year Club. She was secretary/treasurer of Hickory Creek Plaza and Streator Foods, Inc. A former board member of Trinity Services.
Surviving are her loving husband of 54 1/2 years, Nick J. Andrew of Joliet; three children, Stacy (Jeff) Harris of Chicago, George N. Andrew of Elliott, MD and John N. Andrew of Varna, IL; four grandchildren, Hunter and Mara Harris; Kendra and Ariel Andrew; three sisters, Mary (Dominic) Mancuso of Homer Glen, Marilyn Mitros of South Bend, IN and Barbara Karnet of New Mexico; two brothers, Angelo Aggelopoulos of Chicago and Nick Aggelopoulos of Manhattan; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services for Rita Andrew will be Thursday, June 26, 2008 at 8:45 a.m. from the funeral home to All Saints Greek Orthodox Church for services at 9:30 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park II. In lieu of flowers, memorials to All Saints Greek Orthodox Church or Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation Wednesday 3-7 p.m. with Trisagion Services at 6:30 p.m. at:
